A little piece of groundGUEST: Elizabeth Laird, award winning children’s author

British children’s author, Elizabeth Laird, has just released her award-winning book, “A Little Piece of Ground” in the United States. The book is a unique look at the life of a young Palestinian boy under Israeli occupation. Twelve year old Karim Aboudi and his family are trapped in their Ramallah home by a strict curfew imposed by the Israeli Defense Forces. The curfew prevents adults from working and children from going to school. Meanwhile all Karim wants to do is play soccer. When the curfew is finally lifted, Karim and his friends find an unused patch of ground that they painstakingly convert into a soccer field. It’s not much, but for a group of young Palestinian boys, a little piece of ground means the world when trapped under a brutal occupation.
