Los Angeles Gang Policy
| the entire program
GUESTS, Alex Sanchez, Executive Director of Homies Unidos, Alex Alonso, founder of Streetgangs.com
Yesterday, the Advancement Project presented its recently released report on gang violence to the Los Angeles City Council’s Ad Hoc Committee on Gang Violence and Youth Development. The report described the past two decades of gang prevention in Los Angeles, as a “failure,†and recommended a “Marshall Plan,†that would incorporate prevention, intervention, and community redevelopment programs. Meanwhile, Los Angeles city and county officials have pledged to create new policing teams in the San Fernando Valley and have proposed a $50 million dollar tax increase to fund anti-gang programs. The Mayor alongside City Councilman Tony Cardenas and Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky plan to pair county probation officers with city police in the San Fernando Valley in an attempt to curb gang violence. Earlier this month, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa met with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to ask for federal aid to combat gang violence and is expected to announce a city wide gang prevention plan with Police Chief William Bratton next month.

One Response to “Los Angeles Gang Policy”
When one decides to go and actually purchase a table for eating food,
there are many considerations that have to
be taken into account. Go towards the south exit
to the Gogol’s boulevard and walk across Volhonka street.
Now before you start riffling through swathes
of glossy pages, it’s important to understand the
essential elements of the living room decor.
