Sol Art Gallery and Cafe GUESTS: Sali Heraldez, Director of Sol Art Gallery and Cafe, Adriana Albar Sanchez, Community Relations Director

A thirty day eviction notice, dated on January 5th, was served to Sol Art Gallery and Cafe in Santa Ana. The owner of the Main Street block in Santa Ana where Sol Art is located, simply stated the eviction notice was served as plans have been made to “upgrade the building to make room for a lucrative business venture.” Since opening in April 2004, Sol Art has dedicated itself to the community by offering its space to visual and performance arts. More than sixty artists and hundreds of bands have exhibited and performed at Sol Art. The gallery and cafe has also offered its space over the years to organizers of local and international progressive causes. The closing down of Sol Art comes as Tia Chucha’s in Sylmar has also been recently served an eviction notice. The gallery owner of Sol Art, however, originally decided against attempting to re-establish the space elsewhere but is now seeking to do so. This Saturday, January 27th, will celebrate three years of Sol Art in Santa Ana and will also be the last event held at its current location. Local Son Jarocho group Son del Centro will play alongside Enjambre as members of the community are urged to come in support of Sol Art Gallery and Cafe.

Sol Art Gallery and Cafe is located at 2202 N Main St. Santa Ana.

Sol Art’s Third Anniversary and Last Show will take place this Saturday, January 27th. Son del Centro will perform alongside Enjambre and doors open at 8pm.
