Still Present Pasts: Korean Americans and the “Forgotten War,” is a traveling multimedia exhibit that presents the legacies of the Korean War and its tragic human cost. Three visual artists, three performance artists, a documentary filmmaker, a psychologist and an historian collaborated to bring to audiences the forgotten history of the Korean War from the perspectives of Korean Americans. As part of the exhibit, oral histories of the period are retold through text, audio and video presentations and are combined with video, installation, and performance art by Korean and Korean American artists. Kristin O’Connell, Assistant Director of the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities reacted to the exhibit by saying that it “constitutes a major event in the Korean American community. It deserves to be widely seen, and not only by Korean Americans. Still Present Pasts: Korean Americans and the Forgotten War exhibits in Los Angeles beginning this Sunday at the LA ARTCORE/ Union Center for the Arts.
