People’s Assembly on Homelessness
| the entire program
GUEST: Gerardo Gomez, organizer of People’s Assembly on Homelessness
This weekend, homeless persons and their supporters will hold a “people’s assembly” to address the roots of homelessness in Los Angeles. The assembly will consist of a series of panels focusing on six central issues. Homeless persons and other panelists will speak about affordable housing, hunger, health care, homeless civil rights, as well as the perspectives of women and working homeless persons. There will also be an open platform where participants can engage with one another and create solutions for the homeless crisis. The People’s Assembly is being supported by a number of activist organizations including Food Not Bombs, Axis of Justice and the Eastside Café Echospace. The Assembly will be held this Saturday, March 31st at 9:30 a.m. at the Echo Park United Methodist Church.
Echo Park United Methodist Church is located at 1226 N. Alvarado St. Los Angeles, CA 90026. This event is free. No registration required. For more information, call 323-395-4830.
One Response to “People’s Assembly on Homelessness”
Thank you so much for covering this subject that seems to have been forgotten by not only the mainstream media, but by much of the indie media as well. We at Press for Democracy (an independently produced TV Newsmagazine) will be covering this issue in an upcoming show.
Thanks again,
