HaitiGUEST: Brian Concannon Jr., Director of the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti

More than 400 Haitians, allegedly gang members, have been arrested since the beginning of the year in operations by the Haitian National Police (HNP). The HNP are backed by United Nations police and military to ostensibly crack down on violent crime. The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti or “MINUSTAH” lauded the collaboration with HNP. The MINUSTAH spokesperson, David Wimhurst said, “Our joint operations are increasingly successful… This is the highest rate of arrests and detentions to date.” Most of the arrests have been made in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The UN mission in Haiti has come under fire from human rights groups for massacring unarmed Haitians. Meanwhile in early March, Congresswoman Maxine Waters introduced a resolution in the House to urge the IMF, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and other multilateral financial institutions to cancel Haiti’s multilateral debts immediately and completely.

    umm t i think that haiti is a wonderful place to ive but onlii also to visit this beautiful place!!!

    i think all haitian should live as one because every body is god children and haitians must remember they country are poor and tourist are going to be afraid to go to they country
