Hindu Students Council Linked to Fundamentalist Indian Groups

| the entire program

Stop Funding HateGUEST: Samip Mallick, Campaign to Stop Funding Hate

The Hindu Students Council, with numerous chapters on college campuses nationwide, calls itself “a voice of Hindu youth across college campuses and the community.” But according to a new investigative report, the HSC is linked to right wing Hindu fundamentalists in North America and India. Released last week by the Campaign to Stop Funding Hate, the report “Lying Religiously: The Hindu Students Council and the Politics of Deception,” demonstrates how the organization is affiliated politically and institutionally with Sangh Parivar, an ultra right wing and militant grouping in India, which includes members of the Hindu nationalist movement, or Hindutva. The report claims that using deceptive means, the HSC has de-emphasized and disguised its connections to Sangh Parivar over time in order to attract more students to its ranks. Registered as a non-profit, the Hindu Students Council calls itself an independent, apolitical, cultural and spiritual organization. The public face that the HSC puts forth attracts many Indian American youths and students who wish to learn more about their culture. The publication of “Lying Religiously” coincides with the launching of a six month “Truth Out on HSC’s,” campaign aimed at informing Indian American students about the report’s findings.

    Shameless propaganda:

The so-called “Campaign to stop Funding Hate” is, in reality, a far-left and extremist Maoist/Islamist anti-Hindu and anti-Semitic hate group covertly run by the terrorist organization called the “Forum of Indian Leftists”. These people are intimately involved in spreading anti-Hinduism, Islamist and anti-Zionist (anti-Semitic) propaganda throughout South Asia. They are connected to Naxalite terror groups in the Indian east Coast and stand expose as such. Read rebuttal posted by hsc:

Also, read a more recent and non-partisan report on hsc by Prof Stephen Warner of uic:

HSC is a simple advocacy and cultural group. They are not affiliated with any “Hindu Fundamentalists”. The only reason why Islamist and leftist hatemongers from South Asia want to malign their image is out of a palpable fear that the Hindu community in the US is growing and has been met with tolerance and acceptance (concepts alien to Islamists and their allies in the left) and will serve to bring American attention to the massive and brutal atrocities and human rights violations inflicted against Hindus by these leftists in Morichjhanpi, Nandigram, Bangladesh and others. Thi is merely a pre-emptive tactical strike organized by these hate groups against Hindus.

I’m thankful for the article and the work being done to expose the role a segment of the Hindi diaspora has played in funding violence in India.
