As we approach the sixth anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the reverberations of the geo-political shifting event continue to be felt. 9/11: Perspectives and Pretensions Trilogy is a new stage project artistically dealing with the effects of a so-called post 9/11 world. Directed by indie filmmaker Charles Burnett alongside a multi-ethnic cast of actors and performers, the production ranges from the serious to the satirical in tackling issues such as civil liberties and the constitution. Part one of the trilogy offers a global perspective by looking back to previous constitutional abuses, the current war in Iraq, and the genocide in Darfur. Part two features the music of Omar Offendum of the N.O.M.A.D.S. and the poetry of D-Knowledge. Rounding out the trilogy is “Pretensions” which looks critically at all the cultural, political, and personal misperceptions that have arisen in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
