GUEST: Marisela Norte, exhibiting photographer and writer

“Sociedad Anonima,” or Anonymous Society, is a new exhibition featuring the writings and photographs of Marisela Norte. Conceptually curated by Diane Gamboa, the exhibit is based on Norte’s writings and photographs taken whil riding the number 18 bus from East Los Angeles to Downtown. Never seen publicly before, the pictures accompany narratives from an important literary voice from East Los Angeles to paint the portrait of a major metropolis in flux. The result is a poetic look at the society of Los Angeles and its anonymous people over the past twenty-five years. “Sociedad Anonima” will be exhibiting at the Tropico de Nopal Gallery-Art Space in Echo Park from September 15th through October 13th.
