The 4th Annual Artivist Film Festival kicks off tonight at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Highlighting more than 60 films from 25 countries, the festival concentrates on pressing social issues ranging from human rights and child advocacy to environmental preservation and beyond, the screenings provide the progressive community a space to come together and enjoy films they might not otherwise have a chance to see in theaters, and audiences say that they leave the screenings feeling informed and inspired. The festival combines art and activism in the global community, and opens tonight with the screening of “America the Beautiful” a film that takes a critical look at the mainstream standards of beauty.
