GUESTS:Jaymi Perez, Senior at Roosevelt High School, Melinna Bobadilla, Teatro East of the River

A cast of 10 youth who wrote about their won feelings and concerns on their surroundings and the impact of immigration laws and police brutality will present an original theater and spoken word show called “Ojos Que No Oyen” – or “Eyes That Don’t Hear”. Teatro East of the River, headed by Jessica Viramontes, Melinna Bobadilla, Mariella Saba and Xavier Moreno, has been holding theater and creative writing workshops for LA youth since August, and this new piece, written and performed by middle and high-school students aged 12-18, is the fruit of their collective labor. Self Help Graphics in East LA will open its doors tomorrow night at 8pm, where the public will get a chance to see students from East LA, Eagle Rock and South Central present what they want the world to know in a powerful and uncompromising fashion.
