Listen to today’s Subversive Historian

Eric Drooker
The Pueblo Revolt by Subversive Historian Gabriel San Roman

Three-hundred and twenty-eight years ago on this day in people’s history, Pueblo Indians successfully revolted against their Spanish Colonizers. On August 21st, 1680, the last remaining Spanish settlers retreated from what is modern day Santa Fe, New Mexico to El Paso. The revolt was lead by San Juan Pueblo Indian Pope, who had early been publicly whipped by the Spanish for practicing his native religion. Once released, Pope organized nearby pueblo tribes to rebel against the unpopular rule of the Spanish who oppressed natives through forced labor, and to religious persecution.

The Pueblo Revolt was the first successful rebellion by Native Americans against Europeans and just goes to show: The Pueblos United, Will Never be Defeated!

Let’s keep it real! For Uprising, this is your truth professa saying it’s no mystery why they conceal our history!
