bill santiagoAs this year’s election draws closer, and the two major party candidates shape up for their first debate tomorrow, certain demographics are coming under scrutiny, especially in so-called swing states. In battle-ground states like Colorado, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico, Latinos in particular appear to be the swing vote. Their voting patterns are shifting this year, compared to the last two elections. In particular, more Latinos are expected to vote for Barack Obama than John McCain. While the issue of immigration is assumed to be a strong factor, most Latinos, like the rest of the electorate, are also concerned about jobs, the economy, and the wars. Some Spanish-language television stations like Univision, are planning programming to educate the Spanish-speaking electorate about the presidential election. Joining me to discuss these and other election-related issues is stand-up comedian Bill Santiago.
