How the Israeli Occupation Impacts Palestinian Children’s Health
| the entire program
The United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported last month on how Palestinian children are not protected enough from the Israeli occupation and internal fighting in the occupied territories. Three hundred and eighty six Palestinian children have been killed as a result of violence this year already. Forty four children were injured in September, all but one in the West Bank. In addition to those who are directly targeted by Israeli bullets, like 10 year old Ahmad Husam Yousef Mosa, and 15 year old Ahmad A’mira, the vast majority of Palestinian children suffer from treatable and avoidable medical conditions. Overcrowded clinics, underpaid and unpaid hospital staff, Israeli checkpoint barriers, and general malnutrition, have resulted in a worsening health care crisis for Palestinian children.
