Ralph Nader Speaks Out

In the most recent Gallup Poll released yesterday, Democratic candidate Barack Obama leads Republican candidate John McCain for the Presidency. This is Obama’s largest advantage to date and coincides with his winning performance in Tuesday’s debate, as well as his spending spree on TV ads. But left out of the debate as usual, were third party candidates like Cynthia McKinney the Green, Bob Barr the Libertarian, and Ralph Nader, the Peace and Freedom Party candidate. What would presidential debates look like with a plethora of voices instead of just the two major party candidates? We won’t know for a while yet. But here on KPFK, you can hear these third party candidates who have been shut out of the mainstream media. Ralph Nader, along with his running mate were campaigning in California when the first presidential debate happened in late September. Today we bring you excerpts of his speech, captured on tape by Global Voices for Justice. Today you will hear what is not spoken during the debates: the truth behind the bailout, the crimes of corporations, the realities of our crumbling healthcare system, and the power of ordinary people to make real change.

GUEST: Ralph Nader, Peace and Freedom Party candidate for President

Third parties & independent candidates will unite at some point in the future and the two party system will change as a result. Dems and Repubs don’t want this to happen–but as the population gets older, such events become more likely. At this point minor parties behave in the same manner as major parties, but in the future coalitions will form. There will be more than two parties for a time, when this occurs. It is a matter of time until the Dems and Repubs can no longer claim to represent different views. One of these parties will disappear as the result of the reordering.
