Channeling Freddie Mercury On Stage
| the entire program
If you’re a fan of the late Freddie Mercury, like me, you may not want to miss this weekend’s performance by Robert Farid Karimi. He’ll be channeling the iconic lead singer of Queen as part of his part documentary-theater, part rock-concert play at Highways Performance Space. The play, called Farid Mercury, is the story of how a young Iranian Guatemalan deals with political events like the Iran Hostage crisis and the Iran-Iraq war, while simultaneously exploring the Chicano Punk Rock Scene, his search for a wrestling champion, and the death of his Iranian grandmother. Farid Mercury challenges notions of masculinity, gender and sexuality in this two day run presented by TeAda Productions’ New Visiting Artist Program.
GUEST: Robert Farid Karimi, writer and performer of Farid Mercury
