maria bermudezMaria Bermudez grew up in East L.A., a Chicana with musical talent. Seventeen years ago she moved to Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, to study Flamenco music. In the early 1990s she founded the flamenco company Sonidos Gitanos, “Gypsy Sounds”. Bermudez and Sonidos Gitanos have toured North America and Europe, including many trips back to her native city of Los Angeles. In 2007 Bermudez formed the Chicana Gypsy Project, which blends the influences of blues, ranchera, and flamenco music. Bermudez and Sonidos Gitanos bring the Chicana Gypsy Project to the Ford Amphitheater this Friday and Saturday.
