The Right HookThe Right Hook, a weekly segment which covers the machinations of the right wing, from the Republican Party to the Tea Party Patriots, and beyond. By Chris Bennett

Delaware Tea Party senate candidate Christine O’Donnell’s first campaign commercial is out. In it she proclaims: “I’m not a witch. I’m nothing you’ve heard. I’m you.” O’Donnell has moved beyond witchcraft and for some time now has been dabbling into Christianity. However, O’Donnell has been privy to classified information that hints at other-worldly powers. In a 2006 audio interview, O’Donnell claimed that the communist Chinese government was trying to take over America. Not over-take America in green energy and capital enterprise simultaneously like they are in fact doing. But to take over America by drilling for oil off the coast of Florida. O’Donnell claimed she knew this because she worked with religious non-profit groups which for years sent missionaries to China. Communist officials were likely aware that so-called missionaries proselytize their people in a country that forbids the Bible. But, perhaps O’Donnell thought they were willing to put up with this in exchange for being able to drill oil off the Florida coast. So then the British Petroleum spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a clear effort by the British government to destroy our domestic oil reserves, foul our coast lines, cripple our economy, and kill our wildlife. This is a clear violation of the Treaty of Paris– and the Tea Party silence is deafening.

Alaskan Tea Party candidate Joe Miller admitted Monday that his wife had received unemployment benefits in 2002 after losing her job. Kathleen Miller had to be let go because her employer was the magistrate judge in the Fairbanks District Court— and also her husband Joe. The arrangement violated state nepotism rules. Joe Miller’s small government message labels unemployment benefits unconstitutional, and on Monday Miller declared the federal minimum wage to be unconstitutional.

Rand Paul, the Kentucky Republican U.S. Senate candidate, and Tea Party favorite, has declared Medicaid to be “intergenerational warfare.” According to Gwenda Bond, a spokeswoman for the state Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Kentucky has about 57,000 births per year. Medicaid covers half of them. Since 2005, Rand Paul has received over $130,000 in Medicaid funds. The government programs Medicare and Medicaid account for about half of candidate Paul’s medical income. So, should he win his Senate race, Paul will presumably no longer need to bill Medicaid. Instead, he’ll just bill you.

Karl Rove’s brand-new tax-exempt non-profit group Crossroads GPS has already been called out for violating campaign finance rules. The Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21 have asked the IRS to investigate Crossroads GPS, which as a tax-exempt organization can conceal the names of its donors. Crossroads GPS and its affiliate American Crossroads have spent $14 Million in ads attacking Democrats or supporting Republicans in eight states. So, what’s the Federal Election Commission to do? Nothing. With three Democrats and three Republicans, the FEC is built for gridlock not enforcement. When will the IRS act on this obvious violation of election rules? At least not until next Spring when it receives the reports on 501(c)(4) organizations. By then, these elections will be flattened road kill on the Great American Freeway. Department of Justice? There is no evidence to suggest they are investigating. Until the election, it’s voters beware.
