CA MapCalifornia Attorney General and two time governor Democrat Jerry Brown beat former e-Bay CEO billionairess and Republican candidate for Governor Meg Whitman 53.8% to 41.2%. The Green Party’s Laura Wells got 1.2% of the vote, less than Libertarian Dale Ogden and American Independent Chelene Nightingale. Democratic Senate incumbent Barbara Boxer managed to keep her seat from Republican challenger Carly Fiorina 52.2 to 42.4%. Democrats Debra Bowen, Bill Lockyer, and John Chiang retained their seats as Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Controller respectively. Democrat Kamala Harris beat Republican Steve Cooley by a narrow margin for state Attorney General. Of the nine measures on the ballot, Propositions 19, 21, 23, 24, and 27 failed, while 20, 22, 25, and 26 passed.
