In 1998, the US arrested 5 Cuban citizens sent by the Castro government to unearth anti-Castro and anti-Cuba violence. The Cuban 5, as they came to be known, were convicted of espionage and conspiracy to commit murder, leading to prison sentences ranging from 15 years to 2 consecutive life sentences.
