President Obama will deliver a major speech this morning, on the issue of the economy and jobs, at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. It’s a theme he has returned to several times during his career as President, and this latest attempt seems aimed at refocusing public attention onto the issue, albeit with no sweeping proposals as far as we can tell.

The House of Representatives is getting ready to vote, perhaps as early as today, on a bill to cut the NSA’s budget and limit its surveillance scope. The White House issued a stern response saying, “We oppose the current effort in the House to hastily dismantle one of our Intelligence Community’s counterterrorism tools.”

Workers at a warehouse in California that subcontracts with Walmart are launching a 2 day surprise strike starting today.
