Grio: Tracy Martin to speak at 1st-ever meeting of the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys
The Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys will be holding its first-ever meeting on Wednesday and they have lined up a special guest.
Tracy Martin, Travyon Martin’s father, is scheduled to appear tomorrow to offer opening remarks. The main topic of the meeting will focus on “The Status of Black Males: Ensuring Our Boys Mature into Strong Men.”
Martin will address this topic and leaves no doubt that undoubtedly refer to the death of his 17-year-old son, which was the center of a firestorm of that sparked across the nation.
Other notable speakers will also be in attendance, including MSNBC host and Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson , former Congressman and NAACP President Kweisi Mfume and David J. Johns, the head of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, according to a press release.
