New Group of Conservatives Seek to “Fundamentally Transform the Nation,” and Clean Up Racist Image of Republicans
“Don’t mourn, organize” is a phrase often used on the left but conservatives seemed to have embraced that sentiment with alacrity after last November’s Presidential defeat.
A newly formed group of GOP elected officials, conservative Tea Party activists and right wing journalists have organized under the name of Groundswell, and apparently have a “30 front war seeking to fundamentally transform the nation.”
Their targets include President Obama, progressive groups and what they term the “liberal media,” as well as would-be political allies like Karl Rove who apparently is not conservative enough.
The group’s tactics include synchronizing powerful media messaging to change public opinion and creating political scandals to undermine Obama. Groundswell’s documents as well as some of its electronic communication was recently leaked to Mother Jones magazine which has exposed the collusion in a series of articles.
