New Jersey governor Chris Christie is holding a press conference a day after revelations that his staff deliberately created a traffic nightmare for a city whose Democratic mayor did not support his reelection bid. Republican Gov. Christie, who has serious Presidential aspirations, faces an uncertain political future after news reports broke yesterday that his top aides engineered the shutting down of some lanes on George Washington bridge, apparently to punish the residents of Fort Lee, New Jersey. Christie is addressing the press as I speak, and has come under fire from both parties for what the New York Times calls “nakedly partisan score-settling.” Click here for a New York Times article about the story.

The Obama administration took a bold stand yesterday on juvenile disciplinary measures. The Justice Department issued a statement against so-called “zero-tolerance” policies in the nation’s public schools that criminalize far too many young people, and openly acknowledged that the majority of students targeted by such policies are students of color, saying “racial discrimination in school discipline is a real problem.” The Justice Department has recommended easing off from policies that progressives have long identified as a the “school-to-prison” pipeline aimed at particularly poor black and brown students. News reports are emerging of an Ohio man being pulled over for a traffic stop on New Years day who was found to be transporting nearly 50 bombs, 2 rifles and other explosive paraphernalia. Andrew Scott Boguslawski was arrested near Columbus. As the story makes the rounds of social media, some are asking why this did not make headlines, as it undoubtedly would have if Mr. Boguslawski was a Muslim and/or a brown-skinned man. Meanwhile, three white men named Todd Hunt, Royce Gresham, and Larry Finnell were arrested in Palmdale, Southern California, yesterday for illegally stashing a bunker-full of weapons, including nearly a dozen rifles and 1000 rounds of ammunition.
