Ixya Herrera was only 12-years-old when she launched her musical career by sharing the stage with her idol Linda Ronstadt at the Tuscon Mariachi Conference in 1992. Amazed by Herrera’s performance, Ronstadt invited the young singer to perform on her “Fiesta Mexicana Tour”. Four years later, Herrera released her first album, Primavera (Mexican Classics) which earned her a star for musical excellence from Billboard Magazine. Herrera just released her third album last month called ‘Voz y Guitarra’ featuring legendary Mexican guitarist Elias Torres.

Hakim Bellamy is a national and regional Poetry Slam Champion, and holds three consecutive collegiate poetry slam titles at the University of New Mexico. His poetry has been published in Albuquerque inner-city buses and numerous anthologies. He is the co-creator of the multimedia Hip Hop theater production Urban Verbs: Hip-Hop Conservatory & Theater that has been staged throughout the country. His first book of poetry is entitled Swear. He has just finished his term as Poet Laureate of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
