Deported Veteran Says He Has Been Banished From The Only Home He Knows
It is a strange fact that in the United States you can serve in the military if you’re an immigrant, yet you cannot vote, or be guaranteed any of the rights that citizens enjoy – such as the right to remain in the US legally. In late September, the Pentagon announced that it would begin allowing undocumented immigrants to serve in the Armed Forces, upsetting Republicans. Under a program called Military Accessions Vital to National Interest (MAVNI), undocumented immigrants who qualify as so-called “Dreamers” – people who came to the US without papers as minors – could potentially serve.
But thousands of immigrants to the United States from countries like Mexico, have already served in the military. Many of them have been deported after returning home from their deployments, some to a country they barely know. Even though the US Army is authorized by law to expedite the immigration applications of those who serve, newer laws require deportation of any non-naturalized person who has been convicted of a crime.
Some of the crimes for which immigrant veterans have been deported include offenses as minor as check fraud. Even serving their time does not protect them from deportation. Nor does being decorated for exceptional service in the military. Joining many others in cities around the US, a group of veterans gathered yesterday to hold vigils calling for an end to deportations.
GUEST: Hector Barajas, a US Army veteran who served in the 82 Airborne Division, and was deported to Mexico.

True Story Veteran needs help
Please help bring this veteran home
Re: A 2 time veteran was deported because of the prosecutor hid a part of his file.
I am writing to you because you are a fair and honest person who is not afraid.
I was denied access to my complete federal file by the prosecutor Patrick King, United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division 219 S. Dearborn St., 5th Floor Chicago, IL 60604, Phone: (312) 353-5300.Which resulted in my deportation. I was unable to show my conviction documents to the immigration judge. (The amount that I was convicted of $1375 that the FBI agent testified to) because he willfully took it out of the file. He wanted me deported; so he is hiding a public record. As an army veteran I automatically qualify because of my military service. The immigration Judge told me that I have to have proof that the conviction amount is less than $10,000 to become an American citizen. This cause the immigration judge to use the judgment of conviction with the restitution amount, and not the conviction amount, because the conviction amount could not be presented to the Judge. (After spending 22 months in immigration custody). This resulted in my wrongful conviction as an aggravated felon in immigration court, which denied me my American citizenship and triggered automatic deportation. I would like you to publicize this story because it is true. Or do what you think is best. I am willing to talk to anyone at any time. Attorney Jerry Bischoff, 35 E Upper Wacker Dr #650, Chicago, IL 60601, United States 1-312-853-2167 also refused to turn the documents over to me he chooses to abandon his client in favor of the prosecutor. He said he cannot remember the documents but he was the person who give them to me after making copies in his office in my presents. An Attorney from California: Leslie Robin Azcona, 3002 Badger Dr Pleasanton, CA 94566. Phone Number: (925) 596-0107. Heard about my problem and called and called to ask why I can’t get a public record. The prosecutor called her back. She could recount what they told her. He turn over the exhibits but took out the exhibit (exhibit 2c) that FBI Special Agent Gary Sebo, 2111 W Roosevelt Rd, Chicago, IL 60608, United States, 1 312-421-6700 testified to, which was the document that he used to show the Jury the amount that he had founded and attributed to me, in order to get the jury to convict me. They prosecutor also called her and had a conversation with her. If you contact her she will explain herself. The prosecutor has refused to comply with my FOIA request I am in Guyana and is at a standstill. I am a two time army veteran who is stuck in Guyana because of this. It has been a daily struggle knowing what is happening to me is wrong. Your help is desperately needed. All veterans should be helped.
Yours truly
Mark Isaacs
