Until We Are All Free: Imagining a World Free of Bars and Borders
GUEST: Sonia GuiƱansaca, Artist Network & UndocuWriting Project Coordinator at CultureStrike.
Two major movements of people of color in the United States are joining forces in Oakland this week. A national migrant rights group called CultureStrike is teaming up with Mobilize the Immigrant Vote (MIV) to, in their own words, “respond to the criminalization of migrants and communities of color, and envision a world beyond borders and bars.”
The group will be preparing artistic expressions and rallying in front of a detention center in Oakland. Their goal is to build solidarity with the movement for Black lives, and propose alternatives to mass incarceration, detention, and deportation.
