GUEST: Remi Kanazi, poet, writer, and organizer based in New York City, author of Poetic Injustice: Writings on Resistance and Palestine and editor of Poets for Palestine. He is a Lannan Residency Fellow and an Advisory Committee member for the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.

Violence is continuing in East Jerusalem with the latest incident on Friday being a fire at Joseph’s Tomb in the West Bank city of Nablus, which Jews consider a holy site. Also, on Friday Associated Press reported that a Palestinian man in a press vest stabbed an Israeli man. There have been numerous stabbings of Israelis in this new wave of clashes. According to AP, “In the past month, eight Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks, most of them stabbings. During the same period, 33 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire.”

The situation of Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank as well as the Gaza Strip continues to be desperate. But international awareness is increasing. Among those working to expose Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation and repression is my guest Remi Kanazi.
