GUEST: Amos Kamil is a playwright, screen writer, and investigative reporter. He is the author of Great Is the Truth: Secrecy, Scandal, and the Quest for Justice At the Horace Mann School.

On June 6, 2012, New York Times magazine published a bombshell of an article entitled Prep-School Predators: The Horace Mann School’s Secret History of Sexual Abuse. The author, Amos Kamil, was a former student of the prestigious New York school. While he did not experience abuse, several of his friends did.

Kamil’s revelations came in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky trial at Penn State University as well as the Catholic church abuse scandal, and it underscored just how widespread the sexual abuse of children is. In the months and years following his New York Times magazine piece, Kamil discovered scores of people who were similarly abused at Horace Mann. He has now written a book about it called ‘Great Is the Truth: Secrecy, Scandal, and the Quest for Justice at the Horace Mann School’.
