North Carolina’s draconian voter ID law went on trial in federal court this week. The case is a test of how courts will approach challenges to voting rights in a crucial election year. North Carolina’s law is one of many issues that has spurred a new progressive social justice movement in recent years, perhaps best known by regular protests across the state dubbed Moral Mondays.
