Older Supporters of Clinton Insult Young Women In Desperate Ploy to Beat Sanders
GUEST: Mimi Kennedy, actor who rose to fame with her role as Abby O’Neil on ABC’s Dharma & Greg. She is also a long-time progressive activist and is currently the advisory board Chair of Progressive Democrats of America.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign is getting desperate. Or so it appears, at least according to recent statements by some of her highest profile supporters. In response to the growing popularity of her rival candidate Bernie Sanders, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on Saturday at a rally in New Hampshire said, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”
The American feminist icon Gloria Steinem also stepped into the fray on Friday, during an interview with Bill Maher when she implied that young women were backing Sanders instead of Clinton in order to impress men. ” “When you’re young, you’re thinking: ‘Where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie,’ ”
The statements were shocking, and perhaps indicative of Clinton’s reliance on being the first female president as a central strategy to beat Sanders. Will it work, or will it backfire?

It will NOT work, because young people can see at a glance how Hillary is glutted with corporate money, and Bernie is supported by We The People, with our 27 dollar donations. Madeline Albright is a fool. She always was. Remember when she said “What’s the point of having this huge war machine if we don’t use it?”. Her mind is vast wasteland. Gloria Steinem is a profound disappointment. I’m too sad to say anything about her – I have loved her too deeply for too long- but on this she is dead wrong.
I am a feminist elder who is appalled by Gloria’s statement about younger women. It demeans younger woman. Shame on her.
This idea that “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!” – is idiotic.
Imagine invoking some religious dogma for any person with a threat of the devil for not supporting a woman for an elected office.
This is the lowest free tactic one could possibly imagine.
I would think that any woman who believes that their is no point to having a huge war machine if we don’t use it – is like having a brain and not using it. This is surely the case with Madeline Albright.
We progressives select leaders based on their stand on the important issues not due to gender, race or any other ludicrous notion.
sp fear tactic
Ms. Albright is a diplomat she knew exactly what she was saying not withstanding her “apology”. The remark was not aimed at the young women supporting Bernie. The Hilliary campaign is counting on them being enthusiastic “non-voters”. The remark was aimed at the only woman supporter of Bernie that the Hilliary campaign really fears. Elizabeth Warren. If Warren were to actively campaign on Bernie’s behalf it would be curtains for Hilliary. The hell of which Albright speaks is the political hell which the Democratic establishment would banish her to.
