UC Students Protest Fee Hikes
The campus of UCLA yesterday was rife with activity as Regents took a final vote to pass a whopping 32% fee hike. They met at Covel Commons, where students and union workers surrounded the area after news of the vote, and blocked the Regents from leaving for two hours. Over at Campbell Hall, several dozen students took over the space, and renamed it Carter Huggins Hall, after Black Panthers Bunchy Carter and John Huggins who were killed there 40 years ago. I spoke yesterday at noon with two students who were among those occupying the hall.
