Tomorrow activists across the US are holding hundreds of demonstrations, rallies, speaking events, film screenings, and other events to protest actions that lead to global warming. In February of this year we spoke with one of the main organizers of the national campaign called Step It Up 2007. In the absence of government action to combat climate change, a group of students are Middlebury College with a lot of energy and few resources put together a website and a call to action, naming April 14th a National Day of Climate Action. The main organizing hub is the website, www.StepItUp2007.org. They expected maybe a 100 actions across the country. In the past several months, more than 1300 actions by local groups of people have been organized, all taking place tomorrow. In California alone, there are nearly 180 actions planned. Here in Southern California, there will be events happening from Ojai to Santa Monica, from La Canada to Long Beach.
