Civic DutyGUEST: Peter Krause, lead actor and producer Civic Duty, star of HBO series Six Feet Under

A new film being released this Friday explores the racist fear and paranoia in the immediate aftermath of the 9-11 attacks. Civic Duty stars Peter Krause, best known for his role as Nate Fisher in the HBO series Six Feet Under. Peter’s character in this film, Terry Allen is a recently unemployed accountant who gives in to the media hype of terrorist activity and the constantly flashing images of Arab and Muslim men. He begins to have suspicions about his downstairs neighbor Gabe Hasan, played by Egyptian superstar Khaled Abol Naga. Very soon, Allen’s suspicions spiral into dangerous paranoia, revealing much about the post-911 American psyche and racial profiling.
