Vigilantes at the Border

Rights on the LineGUEST: Christian Ramirez, Director of the San Diego Office of American Friends Service Committee

One of the founders of the Minute Man Project, Chris Simcox, participated in an immigration debate earlier this week in Iowa, insisting that his organization is not racist. Rather, he says, it is concerned only with national security and ending “criminal activity” along the nation’s borders. But Simcox has been quoted in media reports describing “a Mexican conspiracy to take over Los Angeles” and “an upcoming race war.” A new documentary produced by the AFSC (American Friends Service Committee), ACLU and Witness examines the rise of these anti-immigrant groups. It’s called “Rights on the Line: Vigilantes at the Border.” It’s filmed by human rights activists and residents of the borderlands and explores what really motivates border vigilantes. It does this through various interviews with members of the movement and nighttime footage of vigilante border patrols.

What can I say. Once again your program has taken yet another veil off of the so called “American Dream” and and portrayed it’s true identity “The American Nightmare”
