Big Draw LA Across the country, and here in California, education cuts are affecting parents, teachers, and especially students. In fact in this state alone, education cuts over the past two years have totaled $17 billion, leading to many programs being completely axed. Among the first to go is usually arts education. Attempting to fill in the void of arts in public schools, non-profit organizations often step in, offering classes and opportunities to students from low-income families. This month, Ryman Arts, a local non-profit celebrating its 20th year, has organized a series of arts events around the city to encourage Los Angelinos to draw. It’s simply called The Big Draw LA, and is based on a similar, and wildly popular annual event in Britain.
