Last week concluded what was deemed by right wing organizers as “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.” The week targeted women’s studies departments and campus centers for what organizers claim is their silence on the misogyny of Islam. Supporters were urged to hold sit-ins in Women’s Studies Departments to demonstrate against what they say is the oppression of women in Islam. As part of “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.”, right-wing pundit Ann Coulter spoke at USC last week, where she was met with protests by students and supporters who say her speaking engagement and the week’s event were an attack on Islam.
