Water Writes Raisies Awareness with Community Mural Projects
More than 70 per cent of the world’s population is without clean water, and an estimated 25,000 people die each day as a result of bad water management. The Estria foundation is a non profit arts project that brings awareness to environmental issues through art is addressing the water crisis through its inaugural Water Writes series. This series of collaborative mural projects connects 10 cities across the globe and helps them connect and engage them in an dialogue about the current local and international water crisis by the creation of 10 murals created by local graffiti artists and community organizers. The final murals are accessible to view by the public and also to communities across the world through video documentation and the Internet. The hope with this series is to spark discussions and cross collaboration between the participating cities and water organizers across the world. Today marks the third of 10 murals completed in Hawaii. The mural which was done with graffiit grew 808 Urban is called Kahili water writes mural and is the largest mural on the Islands and is focused on the water that brings life to the islands.

the obvious contradiction of all this work is that the aerosols are killing our mother earth, polluting our waters and adding poison to our air and earth – and the people using them – get on board to the NeW KoOl – green pallets – dont dis’ us!
