Anarchists Gather for a Weekend Conference
| the entire program
GUESTS: Ralph Camacho, organizer of the Southern California Anarchist Conference, Isaac Ontiveros, member of the AK Press Collective
Anarchism is perhaps one of the most misunderstood of all political philosophies. Distortions about anarchism from both the left and the right have obscured a non-monolithic radical tradition that opposes in various ways and means the institutions of the state, private property and capitalism. Locally, activists have organized the 2007 Southern California Anarchist Conference as a forum for connecting radical ideas with community. The Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research will host the conference’s two days of workshops and panels. Both anarchists and non-anarchists alike are encouraged to attend. Sponsoring organizations include the Anarchist Black Cross Federation and AK Press. The weekend’s events will close with a concert at the Centro De Accion Popular featuring socially conscious musicians such as Aztlan Underground and Sherman Austin.
