New HampshireGUEST: Leigh Ann Caldwell, FSRN Reporter

New Hampshire voters are heading to the polls today in the nation’s first presidential primary elections. Coming off a first place finish in Iowa, Illinois Senator Barack Obama is projected by numerous new polls to emerge victorious over Senators Hillary Clinton and John Edwards in the Democratic race. In Republican campaigns, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is not expected to repeat his first place Iowa finish in New Hampshire. Senator John McCain, who won the state over George W. Bush in 2000, is considered to be the front runner followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Acknowledging the possibility of another defeat to Obama, Clinton announced that she would remain in the race for the democratic presidential nomination regardless of today’s outcome. Speaking on the “Early Show,” Clinton said, “We’re going to keep going until the end of the process on February 5th.” On that date, twenty-two states will hold primaries, including California, in what is known as “Super Duper Tuesday.”
