Keep Uprising on KPFA!

We were informed this week that KPFA 94.1 FM in Berkeley was considering taking Uprising off the air. Since 2009, the weekly syndicated version of our popular LA-based radio program has been airing on Saturdays at 11 am on KPFA, the flag-ship Pacifica station.

If you think Uprising should stay on the air on KPFA, please contact their interim Program Director, Carrie Core at carrie@kpfa.org or 510 848-6767 ext. 209. And please spread the word to others!

The official reason being given for Uprising’s removal is that other programs are already covering the issues we do. This is strange given that all good journalistic enterprises are expected to cover the issues of the day. On Uprising, we have strived for journalistic excellence and progressive values since our inception in 2003. Currently Uprising is one of the highest rated programs on KPFK in Los Angeles, where the program is produced. Over a dozen stations nationwide carry Uprising’s weekly syndicated digest.

Thank you very much,

And what’s up with this Andrew guy, INTERIM Manager at KPFA? Why is he making such a decision? Where is Local Control? Where is the consultation with the Listeners? This is Pacifica politics once again. We must continue to hear UPRISING on KPFA until the Listeners say otherwise!
