Coinciding with the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the Raza Press and Media Association is presenting Barrio Bookfest 2008. The weekend’s event seeks to network authors, media workers, and artists from Oxnard, San Diego and Los Angeles by providing a platform to exhibit their work. Day-long activities will take place at the Santee Education Complex in a Mexican/Latino community of Los Angeles over next weekend to bring the bookfest to a close. Highlights of the Barrio Bookfest include poetry readings of Pablo Neruda, book discussions with authors such as Gloria Munoz Ramirez, and a screening of the documentary, “Mujer Guerrilla.”
