SP!T: A Documentary about Slam Poetry

“SP!T,” is a new documentary about slam poetry from filmmaker Rotimi Rainwater. The film focuses on four poets from New York and Los Angeles competing in a National Poetry Slam competition. The documentary highlights the lives of poets and what inspires them to write. “SP!T,” also explores the connections between the world of hip-hop and spoken word poetry. Rainwater’s film was an official selection of the 2006 Pan African Film Festival where it won the “Executive Directors Choice” award. It is also an official selection in the Silverlake International Film Festival.
