Conversation with Israeli Ambassador to the US
| the entire program
President Bush is set to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later this month to hold talks at the White House on the state of the Middle-East peace process. Bush hopes to reach a peace deal by the end of the year in an effort to create some type of positive legacy for his presidency. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said he will step down from his position after being accused of bribery and corruption. His party chooses a successor later this month and the Palestinian president has hoped out loud that the successor will be a “moderate.” Last Tuesday, at the Republican National Convention, my co-host Mitch Jeserich and I had the chance to sit down for a conversation with Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Sallai Meridor. Despite his insistence that he was non-partisan, Meridor attended the Republican Jewish Coalition gathering at the RNC that same day. After this interview we’ll hear a report back from the Free Gaza Movement.
