Uprising Hosts Debate on 09/18: Chris Hedges Vs. Dinesh D’Souza

KPFK Radio will broadcast a live debate between Chris Hedges, Pulitzer Prize winning author and Dinesh D’Souza the director of the new film called 2016: Obama’s America on Tuesday September 18th from 8 to 9 am PST. The debate will be featured on KPFK’s popular morning drive-time show, Uprising, moderated by host Sonali Kolhatkar.

D’souza’s film is based on his 2010 book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage, which makes the case that President Obama is influenced by his Kenyan father’s political background, and that his policies today are driven by radical anti-colonial sentiments. 2016: Obama’s America has grossed more than $26 million since its September 9th release, and is playing on 2000 screens nationwide.

President Obama’s reelection campaign has responded, calling the film “nothing more than an insidious attempt to dishonestly smear the President by giving intellectual cover to the worst in subterranean conspiracy theories and false, partisan attacks.”

Award winning veteran journalist, foreign correspondent and best-selling author Chris Hedges will debate D’Souza on the topic of his documentary and Obama’s policies. Hedges won a Pulitzer prize for his reporting on global terrorism at the New York Times in 2002. He served as a war correspondent for nearly 20 years and is currently a senior fellow at The Nation Institute and a columnist at Truthdig.com. His most recent book, Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt with cartoonist Joe Sacco, is a piercing account of unregulated capitalism. Hedges has been an active member of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Sheer elegance on Chris’s part. The interview was a razor blade effect on the lies and confusion of the film’s simplicity and motive.
It was clear what the filmmaker’s underlining impulse is. I wish the interviewer would have given D’souza time to respond to Chris last comment on how the marginalize who do the work for the ruling elite (make a film) would always be despised anyway. Chris Hedges would have followed through like the steadfast truth seeker that he is.

Please have more interviews with Chris and others with opposite views.
