‘Innocence of Muslims’ Film Linked to American Right-Wing Islamophobia Industry

Protests sparked by the online US-made film, “The Innocence of Muslims” are continuing into this week. A female suicide bomber in Kabul killed 12 people on Tuesday in the deadliest single incident so far, related to the film. More than 30 people are now dead in various countries across the Muslim world. The deaths follow from the fatal attacks on the US Embassy in Libya on September 11th which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Thousands of students in the Pakistani city of Peshawar shouted anti-American chants and burned American flags. Protesters in Indonesia threw petrol bombs and burning tires near the U.S. Embassy building in Jakarta. Hundreds of people marched to the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand and burned US flags.

Meanwhile, an Al Qaeda group based in North Africa has praised the killing of Ambassador Stevens and threatened more protests and greater attacks on US diplomats in reaction to the film. In a statement, the group said the US was “lying to Muslims for more than 10 years, saying its war was against terrorism and not Islam.”

Several countries, including the United States, have taken down the video which is apparently a trailer for a full length film. An advisory statement warned U.S. travelers not to travel to several countries such as Sudan and Tunisia as a safety precaution.

Meanwhile, Sam Bacile, originally thought to be the creator of the film has now been identified as Nakoula Bassely Nakoula. Nakoula who lives in Cerritos, California was escorted from his home, his face was shrouded in cloth, by police last Saturday for questioning.

Now, a new name has emerged behind the film – the production company that apparently obtained permits for filming the Innocence of Muslims is called Media for Christ, an outfit run by an Egyptian Coptic Christian by the name Joseph Nasralla Abdelmasih. According to my guest Rachel Tabachnick, Nasralla “has been promoted by many of the country’s most vocal anti-Muslim agitators.”

I find it interesting that anyone can instantaneously link an act of hatred and violence to a stupid film that no one can attest was even watched by the bomber. Did someone ask him? Oh that’s right, he’s dead.

So much for the tolerance of other religions 0bama touts on behalf of Muslims. Where would the world be if Christians acted in the same fashion when millions of times a day the name of Christ is defamed. What if the Christians started murdering anyone, Muslims included for urinating on the cross, for tearing the cross down, for desecrating bibles, etc.? The fact there is no violence underscores the reality that Christianity is not a religion, it’s a life, a life of LOVE!
