Report on Los Angeles Protests Against Zimmerman Verdict
Activists have been chanting “The People Say Guilty” on the streets of LA since Florida shooter George Zimmerman was acquitted. Community members have been gathering at and near Leimert Park, and other parts of the city, and even briefly shut down the 10 freeway.
Police have shot rubber bullets, accused protesters of causing thousands of dollars of property damage, and arrested more than a dozen people.
One of those who have been participating in the protests is KPFK staff member Jonathan Alexander. On July 17, 2013, Uprising host Sonali Kolhatkar spoke with Jonathan about the protests.
