Spying on Democracy: Government Surveillance, Corporate Power, and Public Resistance
Even before whistleblower Edward Snowden released the explosive documents about the extent of the NSA’s domestic spying program, civil libertarians like Heidi Boghosian were sounding the alarm on how government and corporations surveill us all.
In her brand new book Spying on Democracy, the head of the National Lawyer’s Guild lays out the myriad ways in which, under the guise of protecting us, we are constantly watched and tracked.
She also warns that whenever the government has spied on us, it is those who are active in matters of social justice that are the most watched and criminalized – namely activists, lawyers, and journalists.
GUEST: Heidi Boghosian, Executive Director of the National Lawyer’s Guild, author of Spying on Democracy: Government Surveillance, Corporate Power, and Public Resistance
