obamaWith Barack Obama winning the presidential election, a racial barrier has been broken that many African Americans never thought they would witness in their lifetime. Obama, as the nation’s first black President, more than 200 years after the nation’s founding, garnered close to 100% of the black vote, and greater numbers of African American voters to the polls than ever before. In his Chicago address last night, he referred to 106 year old African American voter, Ann Nixon Cooper. What does Obama’s victory mean for Black Americans, racial politics, and the future of America?
