chomsky on obamaInternationally renowned political analyst, MIT linguist, and commentator, Noam Chomsky said, in advance of this week’s election, that he recommended voting against McCain. This meant of course, voting for Obama – but without illusions. The best-selling author and foreign policy analyst turns 80 on December 7th. He spoke with me yesterday, in an exclusive interview, the first post-election interview to a US media institution, about the election, from a studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The interview was arranged by the Pacifica Radio Archives, as part of its upcoming one-day fundraiser on November 18th, in conjunction with the launch of its campus campaign, bringing Pacifica’s audio history into the classroom. Today we play you the first part of my interview with Noam Chomsky, reflecting on the Obama win – we’ll play the entire interview on November 18th.
